Welcome All Band & Choir
Directors & Participants
The Tri-State Select Honor Festivals offer deserving student musicians from the Greater Upper Ohio Valley Region the opportunity to grow in an intensive workshop-type ensemble. Students work for three days with clinicians of the highest caliber. This rewarding experience will bring energy, excitement, and renewed commitment to the home high school music program.
MESSAGE FROM THE HOST:
GREAT NEWS! We are excited this year to offer an Honor Choir event as well as the Honor Band. The approach to these ensembles will be different from years past - your talented students will participate alongside WLU students to create a performance experience of the highest possible level. To heighten this experience for both your students and ours, we will be bringing in clinicians of the highest caliber to work for three days with the very best students within the region. The Honor Band will continue its focus on the high school students as the "solo chair" members - but they will work side-by-side our WLU students where there will be an opportunity for mentorship and reciprocal "experience building" for our pre-service educators-in-training in particular.
To that end, the Honor Band will be a completely "auditioned" ensemble. Details will be forthcoming - but we are excited about your initial interest.
This year’s Tri-State Select Honor Festival will be held from January 22-24, 2015. Our entire music faculty will be performing and running master-classes for the students. Your students will appreciate the passion, energy, and expertise this faculty brings to their art and our profession. These young people will come away more excited about music making, and that promises to have a lasting impact on your program.
As former public school educators we know how hard you work and the dedication you bring to the students and community. We are excited to offer you and your students this opportunity; we very much look forward to the chance to share our commitment to music education. Your support of this event and assistance in recommending talented young students is a great service. We look forward to working with you to make this event a valuable experience in YOUR eyes; this is how we measure its success! Again, we extend a very sincere thank you, in advance, for taking interest in the event and helping make it musically, professionally, and personally rewarding for you, the parents, and of course the student performers that will attend. The work you do as a music educator is invaluable and greatly appreciated.
In addition, we hope that you can make plans to attend Thursday evening's "Prism" Concert presented by the entire West Liberty music program: Wind Ensemble, Concert Choir, Jazz Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, and other chamber ensembles. This event is always a tremendous hit with the students, and it promises to offer a VERY diverse and enjoyable evening of music!
